MORE INFORMATION:
Why would I do this?:
You are helping me collect data for a scientific research project on Mass Effect, at the University of Glasgow. I am an MSc research student at Glasgow’s faculty of Psychology and Education, and am researching who Mass Effect players are, who they play as, and how these factors tie into (game) morality and game enjoyment.
Why would you do this?:
I strongly believe that video games are an extremely interesting research field. I am not alone in this, psychological research on gaming has developed over the years, but there are definitely still gaps in the literature. This project wants to add to the existing body of literature and expand it.
(If you’re interested in hearing more about this project, you can follow the project’s blog at n7recruitment.tumblr.com.)
Okay I’m interested. What do I need to do:
The good news is that, if you have played Mass Effect 2 in the past 8 months, or have engaged with the material within the past 8 months (roleplay, run a ME blog, written fiction/made art, talked about it with friends, …), you can participate! You have to be over 18, but there are no other limitations!
The survey can be found here (and will take about 10 minutes to fill out.
Note that there are no right or wrong answers, and no one will judge your answers in any way, shape or form. No individual data will be presented. Your data will be treated completely anonymously and you have the right to withdraw at any moment.
What’s in it for me?:
Directly? Nothing. But if you play video games, then you will realize this research is part of a bigger community focusing on defending video games’ position in academic research. And it’s a chance for you, to be a part of this and help me make this happen.
