Anxiety attacks aren’t always hyperventilating and rocking back and forth

the-uterus:

ugly-bread:

Anxiety attacks can take different forms, such as:

  • Unpredictable bouts of rage or irritability
  • Nit-pickiness (obsessive behavior, which may be a part of OCD), and even a hypersensitivity to disarray, chaos, or any sort of change
  • Fast-talking, stuttering, stumbling over words
  • Not talking at all
  • Sitting rigid, staring into space, almost seeming “zoned out”

Understanding the way our or other’s anxiety works can help to decrease the stigma and help to calm a person faster and get them out of that state. These are just a few, but it gives an idea of the range in which attacks can come.

Have you played Mass Effect? Do you think video games deserve a place in academic research? Commander Shepard wants YOU to fill out this survey.

Click this link, fill out a ten minute survey and help academic research on video games!! This research has been approved by the University of Glasgow.

MORE INFORMATION:
Why would I do this?:

You are helping me collect data for a scientific research project on Mass Effect, at the University of Glasgow. I am an MSc research student at Glasgow’s faculty of Psychology and Education, and am researching who Mass Effect players are, who they play as, and how these factors tie into (game) morality and game enjoyment.

Why would you do this?:
I strongly believe that video games are an extremely interesting research field. I am not alone in this, psychological research on gaming has developed over the years, but there are definitely still gaps in the literature. This project wants to add to the existing body of literature and expand it.
(If you’re interested in hearing more about this project, you can follow the project’s blog at n7recruitment.tumblr.com.)

Okay I’m interested. What do I need to do:
The good news is that, if you have played Mass Effect 2 in the past 8 months, or have engaged with the material within the past 8 months (roleplay, run a ME blog, written fiction/made art, talked about it with friends,  …), you can participate! You have to be over 18, but there are no other limitations!
The survey can be found here (and will take about 10 minutes to fill out.

Note that there are no right or wrong answers, and no one will judge your answers in any way, shape or form. No individual data will be presented. Your data will be treated completely anonymously and you have the right to withdraw at any moment.

What’s in it for me?:
Directly? Nothing. But if you play video games, then you will realize this research is part of a bigger community focusing on defending video games’ position in academic research. And it’s a chance for you, to be a part of this and help me make this happen.

If you can, please reblog this, more participants means better results!! I would greatly approve!

HOLY SHIT THIS IS MY JAM game: mass effect psych stuff

So I took a moment to test the  block user update with a friend and this is what I learned:

garbagedaughter:

With the help of baneoftoasters I got to check out this update and see what exactly it does.

image

So this is what the blocked users list looks like now.

image

I’m going to add them on here for testing purposes.

image

Oh hey now they’re on the list, all pixelized and blocked! Neat. Now here are our testing notes.

When a user is blocked;

  • You will automatically unfollow them if you’re following them.
  • Blocked user will be made to unfollow you and can’t refollow you even if they click the follow button [Note: When refreshed it shows that clicking the follow button didn’t work.
  • Blocked user’s icon will appear pixelized in the list of block users.
  • Blocked user can’t reblog you [Note: With the use of xkit’s quick reblog function, they can reblog from you regardless]
  • Blocked user can’t like any of your posts
  • Blocked user can send you asks (and will show in your activity feed/inbox icon) but they won’t appear in your inbox on desktop or mobile
image

This is the only indication you’ll receive about a blocked user’s message.

Even if a user is blocked:

  • Blocked users can access blog from _________.tumblr.com (they just can’t interact with the content through reblogs/likes).
  • You can reblog, like, and send them asks and the blocked user will see the acitivity in their feed and recieve the asks.

If a user is unblocked:

  • Any asks sent to you by the user when they were blocked will appear in the inbox.
image

There’s the message after I unblocked her. We hope this information helps!

P.S. Also people you previously blocked before this update will still be following you (if they’re following you, that is). If you unblock and reblock, it will force them to unfollow.

Update: We didn’t notice this before, but now tumblr gives you the option to block anons by their IP addresses. Only anons though.

One thing I love about the Tabris origin is the implication that when Tabris says they’re going to beat the crap out of somebody/commit murder, everybody around them takes them at face value.

When Tabris goes “Let’s kill him”, Soris’ reaction isn’t “oh cousin, you’re so funny with your jokes” it’s “Oh Maker no, not again, brb gonna get help”

No child of Adaia Tabris makes empty threats. Nope, you’re gonna get your shem ass handed to you.

Because, uh, that gif is kind of obnoxious. (moving/color-changing gif at the link)

Hey Tumblr, welcome to your better blocking system. So much better that we changed its name from “Ignore” to “Block.” A proper, muscular name. Solid as a block.

Someone acting like a tool? Go ahead, block them. Here’s what they won’t be able to do:

  • Follow you
  • Message you
  • Like your posts
  • Reblog your posts
  • Reply to your posts
  • See your posts in search results
  • See your blog in search results

As far as their dashboard is concerned, you don’t exist.

I’ve been getting this bug where my drell (all of them) get absurdly fast without an adrenaline mod…and they keep getting faster with every match I play.

It’s actually a little nauseating after a while, but mostly it’s hilarious because I just show up in places and @msbethanyhawke is like “wait weren’t you on the other side of the map half a second ago?” and I’m also too fast for the escort drone.

this was such a ridiculous bug and this entire match was so unnecessary the extremely fast drell and his long-suffering batarian partner me3mp tag motion sickness warning for the video

shout out to my exec dysfunction ppl whose rooms are always a mess, who have weeks and weeks of dirty laundry lying around, who have trouble doing objectively “simple” chores and tasks, who get told that they’re lazy and just not trying and told that they need to do better. i know you are trying your best even when everything takes an enormous amount of effort or seems impossible. i love y’all

and if you aren’t trying your best that’s okay too. You’re allowed to relax
